General

Answer to Bill of Complaint of Sir John Guise, bart. In Dec 1689 Guise told Arthur Moore that he had a small ship called the John and Elizabeth at Bristol, and wished to trade to Ireland; he said he had a good supercargo, a Mathew Delafitte; Arthur Moore offered to join Guise in freighting the ship, and suggested the cargo. Arthur Moore denies that Guise paid him any money on account of the cargo; Guise paid Delafitte only. The ship departed; ca Feb 1689/90 Guise borrowed £75 from Arthur Moore on the cargo and £40 note. Arthur received £350 for the cargo. The disposal of the cargo was all Delafitte's, who died in Ireland, leaving the cargo's disposal to Lartique and Co.; Arthur Moore has heard nothing since his death. Moore wishes to settle accounts, but wants to hold the money until Delafitte's affairs settled. Trottman
