Scope and Contents
This series includes programs, invitations, and ephemera related to award programs and other events with which Buddy Rogers and/or his wives Mary Pickford or Beverly Rogers were affiliated. Rogers was frequently a guest of honor, speaker, or sponsor for these events. The series also includes materials related to awards and honors Rogers received for his acting career, charitable contributions, or for other aspects of his life.
This series includes materials related to the Oscars, both for the 1986 Oscars when Rogers won the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award and for years celebrating notable anniversaries of Wings's win for the Best Movie award in 1929. There are also materials related to the Oscars Board of Governors and selecting Oscar winners.
Arrangement
Materials from individual events are found first in this series and organized chronologically. Some events that happened annually and for which there are materials in the collection, such as the Golden Boot Awards, are grouped together. In some cases, there was just a single item from an event, such as an invitation, and these items have been grouped topically and are described at the end of the series.
