General correspondence, 1902 - 1920
Scope and Contents
This series contains general correspondence of former KU Chancellor Frank Strong. The boxes are sorted chronologically by school year and alphabetically within years by topic. The series begins with Strong’s inauguration in 1902 and ends with his resignation in 1920.
Strong’s Chancellorship led KU through World War I and saw an almost four-fold increase in the size of the student body. These letters, both to and from Strong, detail the challenges he faced during his leadership and the at times arduous process of expansion that KU underwent.
