 Sub-Series
Call Number: 2/8/2

Scope and Contents

This series contains correspondence about faculty and staff, sorted chronologically. Approximately half of the boxes are labelled as “Appointments” and the other half as “Faculty.”

The Appointments correspondence focuses on staff appointments to various positions at the university, which required Strong’s approval. The other correspondence, “Faculty,” contains correspondence from, to, and about university faculty. These letters and memoranda focus mostly on course planning and administration.

Strong also had extensive correspondence with the Dean of the Graduate School and professor of sociology Frank Blackmar. These documents in box 15 of this series detail the extensive growth of the KU graduate program, which was established in 1896.
