London, Leicester Square. Letter to Henry Vincent, at Mr Neales, merchant, Barcelona. Yours of 28 August received. Your poor health; I've been disappointed since I left Barcelona: problems with notes-of-hand, hospital accounts, Mr Hay, Mr Margrett, Mr Scott, Mr Mead's Office; Captain Fountaine not here from Flanders yet. You have provided well for your nephew. Investing in the lottery. A Bill of exchange purporting to be by you "Pay to John Capell £30. Barcelona 14 July 1711. To Mr John Chilcott surgeon in Leicester St" I refused it believing it to be a forgery. The Commissioners of public accounts are enquiring into Spain; we've laid the hospital accounts before them; I'll have to tell them how my pay was discounted in 1707, and how Mead kept my money unless he tells you to direct me to testify differently; Mr Brydges. Talk of peace: Mesnager, Buys. Awaiting you anxiously. Service to Mr Stutely
