Begins "Sr. Mr Cragg was so kind to call on me this morn..." Told me that Lord Ber. was insulted by what I wrote to Mr Hi[ls?]. It was only that Mr Stephens wrote me that Lord B's servants were very violent. The business of Cresswick is no jealousy after what passed between Lord B and I at Bath and a continued negotiation since; it was my right as Lieutenant Colonel to my lord to have hand blanks for the major as well as Sr Rd. The tenants in Wiltshire being told my lord is against me proves the opposite; tis an old trick in the shires
