General

Kells. Letter to Thomas Moore Esq, Ockley near Darking, Surrey. Thomas Moore's 7 July letter arrived while he was away at his estate, so he has only now read it. Your niece Mrs Jane Caning lives by spinning and holds my glebe at an easy rent; the affection I bore her mother and honest James Parr; I have notified her of her uncle's kind legacy. Your niece Mrs Ann McMahon lives on Mr Cxary's land, who should manage your charity to her. Mr Wilkinson (tenant of Rev. Mr William Broke) is married again; I fear your niece's children are neglected; their grandmother and her husband died last November; best to keep Wilkinson from the money but to put the males out to school and apprenticeship
