Materials associated with Dissent in Wichita: The Civil Rights Movement in the Midwest 1954-72, 1994 - 2009

 Sub-Series

Dates

  • Creation: 1994 - 2009

Arrangement

The manuscript drafts at the beginning of the series are arranged chronologically with professor comments and edits included, followed by folders regarding publishing and reception of Dissent in Wichita. The next folders are notes taken from the interviews Eick conducted for the book. Cassette tapes of interviews are in the audio section of the series and are located at KC AV 126.

The research folders are arranged by subject, loosely following the chapters in the book: the Dockum’s sit-in, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), and school desegregation in Wichita. Oversize materials, located at RH MS R515, consist of newspapers pulled from various folders elsewhere in this sub-series.
