Landsberg family papers, 1937 - 2016

Scope and Contents

Includes original and photocopied documents pertaining to Melvin Landsberg’s parents and brother. They were donated by Calvin Karlin, the attorney at Barber Emerson, LC that handled Melvin Landsberg’s estate. The accession documents mention that Landsberg’s parents immigrated from Lublin, Poland, and that his mother’s family “perished in Europe.”

The folders are as follows:

Anna Knochen Landsberg (1900-1993) Papers (Melvin’s mother): Includes certificate of citizenship and death certificate.

Anna and Frank Landsberg Papers (Melvin’s parents): Includes photocopies of marriage certificate, Ketubah (Jewish marriage contract), and the death certificate for Frank Landsberg (1903-1963).

Phillip Landsberg (1929-1994) papers (Melvin’s brother): Includes birth and death certificates, certificate of honorable discharge from the United States military, and location of grave.

Antique family photographs and letter (photographs): Includes black and white photographs labeled on the back and an April 27, 2016, letter from Jane Live, Program coordinator at University of Kansas Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, to Calvin Karlin, giving details about the photos.
