LaVancha Marshall Stalmok's slides

 File — Box: 3, Box: 3-4

Scope and Contents

LaVancha Marshall Stalmok was most likely related to Scrappy Marshall, a relative who, according to a manuscript in this collection, took in Mary (Fritz) Borgen after her father died when she was seven. This set of slides includes Chuck Borgen’s candid pictures of Stalmok’s 95th and 100th birthday parties, along with her personal and professional art slides possibly used for teaching.

Box 3 includes professional quality photos of various types of art. Most of the boxes were unlabeled, however many slides are hand labeled with the names of the artists. Some of the slides are dated May 1958 and November 1959. The boxes that were labeled were named Paper Mache; Design and Ceramics, figures, etc.

Box 4 includes art slides labeled “Water Color for talk” dated May 1958 and March 1960, along with slides from a box that had been labeled “My Art, LaVancha Marshall Stalmok," depicting her paintings and pastels. There are also slides from April 1990 that show Chuck Borgen’s computer desk and house interiors, along with Stalmok’s 95th birthday party. Another set of slides depicts Stalmok’s 100th birthday party, as reported in an April 26, 1995 Lawrence Journal World article, along with pictures of the Duluth Aerial Lift Bridge.
