Biography of William Bevan III
William "Bill" Bevan III received his undergraduate degree from Kansas State University and his law degree from the University of Kansas School of Law.
From 1971-1982 he was an attorney with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), beginning in the Kansas City Regional Office. In this position he investigated unfair labor practice and representation cases, conducted representation case hearings and tried unfair labor practice cases, negotiated election agreements and conducted elections, obtained injunctions in picketing cases, and otherwise handled a large and complex case load. In 1976 he was transfered to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he took on a supervisory capacity, overseeing other trial attorneys' work. In 1978 he was promoted to Deputy Regional Attorney.
In 1982, Bevan entered private practice, serving as a labor and employment attorney with Reed Smith, LLP. He has advised employers on a variety of union activities, drug and alcohol testing, collective bargaining, plant closings and relocations, sales and acquisitions, agreements, and other related matters. He has worked in labor negotiations and negotiating collective bargaining agreements in a variety of industries, including construction, higher education, hotels and restaurants, performing arts, public utilities, and manufacturing. He left Reed Smith, LLP in 2017 to join DeForest, Koscelnik, Yokitis, and Berardinelli.
Bevan contributes to The Developing Labor Law, has been a guest lecturer at Carnegie Mellon University in the School of Industrial Management and at Pennsylvania State University, and has presented at the Pennsylvania Bar Institute and the Associated General Contractors National Construction Labor Law Symposium in Washington, D.C.
