A breif view of annuall revenews [and paiments] of our soveraign Lord the King, in his Kingdom of England and Dominion of Wales, circa 1599-1603?

 Item — Volume: 1
Call Number: MS D146

Scope and Contents

Includes a brief review of the King's annual revenues, made according to such rates as upon consideration of diverse years' receipts and payments appear to be more equal and certain. Includes tables for titles of revenues contained in the volume (leaves 4-36, consisting of receipts, deductions, and remaining); and for necessary payments besides those other deductions incidental to each kind of revenue (leaves 38-49).

Written in a secretary hand with a contemporary correction on leaf 7 (left side) and leaf [iii] marked "187" (in the 18th century?) in lower right-hand corner.

No dates are given except for a mention of 40 Elizabeth (1598). The sums are averages for one year from another during the space of 4 years. It seems likely that this budget was prepared for the new king in 1603 using statistics from Queen Elizabeth's reign--occasionally the scribe wrote "The Queen's Majesty" instead of "King."

Dates

  • Creation: circa 1599-1603?

Physical Description
