Layout drawing, birds quite finished; 3 form and color notes ; large letter C; sheet trimmed on both sides and note; "Make this an upright Drawing"; "from Specimen"; "Edwin Abbott Esq. / Philological School." Each of the two birds may have been used separately as references for the published forms of Motacilla yarrelli and Motacilla alba, both in landscape aspect, but the plants (Nuphar lutea) were redrawn for Porzana pygmaea (Birds of Great Britain IV:89).
