General

Calyptorhynchus banksii -- Red-tailed Black Cockatoo. Alternate name on piece: Calyptorhynchus macrorhynchus [Great-billed black cockatoo] Very rough pencil and pastel layout sketch; pose of male bird's head retained approximately in published plate, while a new female head has been sketched over the color, and used in the plate; at foot of drawing "5 - 7," but there seems no question that this is Birds of Asia V: 8 rather than V:7. Artist's name(s): Gould, John; Richter, Henry Constantine.
