Luscinia svecica -- Bluethroat; Bluethroats. Alternate name on piece: Cyanecula suecica [Red-throated bluebreast] Very fine painting; painting has been matted and framed in the past, and the area exposed to the light is darkened and spotted; a line around the edge has the note "shape of mat," and there is a cross-section diagram of the frame; "9 / 1833a" (Sotheran: see Gould 969--this painting was offered in Piccadilly notes as Gould's work, framed, glazed and signed, for L5/5-). Artist's name(s): Gould, John; Richter, Henry Constantine. Signed "J. Gould F.R.S." but is clearly Richter's work
