General
White-backed Woodswallow [New-ireland wood-swallow]. Tracing on tissue. The published plate differs considerably: the two birds have been transposed and the perches and background changed; the 6 perching birds in the background, shown in the sketch at Gould 373, are omitted--a group similarly positioned appears in Artamus monachus (Birds of New Guinea IV: 21). Reversed on the stone. Artist's name(s): Gould, John; Hart, William Matthew.
