Financial Account Books
General
These financial accounts concern Orsetti family members, lands belonging to the Orsettis, and the merchant firm Filippo Orsetti and Compagnia; there is also a stray volume from the Compagnia di S. Lorenzo a Servi. The accounts are generally not retrospective, but kept up daily, often by a bailiff. Although the farms are administered like businesses their accounts sometimes include personal expenses.
This list is divided by name of area or person concerned, and within the area by type of account-book. Within an account-book series, each volume is usually identified by a letter, which indicates chronology, not alphabetical coverage. There are separate indexes, often by Christian name, not family name, for most volumes—sometimes two indexes, so that a “volume” often consists of three pieces.
