 Series
Call Number: RH MS EK1

Scope and Contents

The volumes at this location typically provide logs of fire runs and drills as well as meeting minutes. Other information includes fire department membership information and rosters and financial and meeting records of the Firemen's Relief Association. Many volumes might have been used and re-used for a variety of purposes, including possibly by other city personnel not in the fire department.

The earliest volumes concern "Head Hunters Hose Company," which was organized March 1, 1869 by C.B. [Chadrick]. Fire record volumes for the years 1917-1932 and 1949-1967 are standardized ledgers with columns for time and date of the fire run, description of building and usage, names of owner and occupant, where fire occurred and how extensive, cause of fire, costs and insurance information, and information regarding supplies used and how long it took the fire department to put out the fire.
