General

"Mrs. Curry came to Western Univ. from the Wilberforce, Ohio area. She was a kind caring person who was also a perfectionist and stern disciplinarian. Her living quarters, personal belongings and her person were always in impeccable order. The young ladies were taught proper conduct, manners and dress and were expected to conduct themselves in that way at all times. Any infraction of rules or proper conduct was promptly handled. She was a photography buff and took many pictures of me and other neighborhood and campus children during the 1920s. She also enjoyed tennis and croquet. She was a very close friend of the families but was a very private person. I heard my first radio program on her crystal radio set during the early 1920s. Her only weakness was her fear of thunderstorms. We always knew that if a storm was brewing and she was alone that she would soon show up at our door to spend the day or night."
