The volume is a compilation of articles and cartoons taken from local newspapers about the careers of Wilder Stevens Metcalf and Frederick Funston during the Spanish-American war, Also included are clippings about Mrs. Frederick Funston and the Kansas Roll of Honor for the Twentieth, Twenty-first, and Twenty-second Kansas regiments.

Bound into the volume is an original Albert T. Reid cartoon depicting Metcalf as a U.S. pension agent and an original photograph of Wilder S. Metcalf in uniform taken in San Francisco.
