Biography of Charles K. Warriner (1920-2003)

Charles King Warriner was born August 26, 1920, in Coloma, Michigan. He received his bachelors in sociology from Hillsdale College in 1942. He received his masters in 1948 and his doctorate in 1953, both from the University of Chicago.

Warriner joined the faculty of the Department of Anthropology and Sociology at the University of Kansas in 1948. He served as the Chair of the Department of Sociology from 1962-1969 and President of the Midwest Sociological Society in 1977-1978. Over his career, Warriner studied group interaction and taxonomies and loyalty within groups. He retired in 1986 and died in 2003.
