Administrative history of Harris Family

James A. Harris resided in San Diego with his family. He apparently was from an Illinois Quaker background. His father worked as a printer and book binder. In San Diego the younger Harris operated Harris Bookbinders.

This collection of correspondence includes letters by the Harris family from relatives living in St. Louis and Springfield, Missouri as well as Colorado. Most of the letters related in detail the activities of the various family members. Primary correspondents include James A. Harris, Francis Harris, his wife, and Adelaide Harris, one of their daughters.

The collection is arranged chronologically.
