Scope and Contents
The Lois Wilson collection includes the script and program for the play "Distinguished Service," by Allen Crafton, a University of Kansas (KU) student. The play was put on by the KU Department of Speech and Drama on March 30, 1943 at the Fraser Theatre. The program states that, due to World War Ii, male actors were not readily available, and plays for all-female casts were equally scarce. The play depicts the lives of nine army nurses during the Battle of Bataan in 1942. Lois Wilson played the role of Maxie Duff, one of the nurses.
