From January 1948 to December 1953, Mary Daniels was teacher-director of the Lawrence Community Nursery School, a Lawrence, Kansas pre-school that was formed in 1948 by a coalition of parents seeking cooperative, inter-racial, low-cost pre-school education. These papers contain Mary Daniels' writings concerning the pre-school's history and purpose, including its role in school integration and race relations. Also included are the pre-school's instructions to participating mothers as teachers.
