Rogers family papers
Overview
This is a collection of manuscript letters, circa 1883-1923, mostly addressed to members of the Rogers family of Slater, Saline County, Missouri. The principal correspondents are Sallie Rogers and her siblings, Mollie (married to F. Ward Switzer, a dentist in Slater), Mattie, Ida, Bettis, and Arthur, together with their various suitors, spouses, and assorted kinsfolk. Most of the writers lived in small Missouri towns, although there are some letters from Kansas, Arkansas, and Oklahoma Territory. The principal themes throughout the letters are those of courtship, marriage, sickness, death, and family support.
