Overview
The Lawrence Alliance of Lawrence, Kansas was formed in 1991 to promote appreciation for diversity, strengthen race relations, and discourage discrimination within the Lawrence community. These two form letters, dated October 1994, announce the Alliance's upcoming community events.

History of The Lawrence Alliance
The Lawrence Alliance, a community-based non-profit organization, was formed in Lawrence, Kansas on August 27, 1991. Originally called the Lawrence Alliance Against Racism and Discrimination, the body later became the Lawrence Alliance.
The Lawrence Alliance was created by recommendation of a Community Task Force on Racism, Discrimination, and Human Diversity that was established by the Lawrence City Commission in July 1990 to address Native American race relations within the Lawrence community. The Lawrence Alliance coalitions with other groups and is in partnership with the City of Lawrence, the University of Kansas, Haskell Indian Nations University, and the USD 497 school district to promote tolerance and discourage discrimination within the Lawrence community.
