George Wetterhold was owner of the George Wetterhold Mattress Factory in Wichita, Kansas from about 1902 until the 1920s. These seven letters to Wetterhold regarding purchases from his factory are from businesses in Kansas and Oklahoma, written from 1909 to 1914.

Biography of George Wetterhold

George Wetterhold was born in August of 1860 in New York State. He moved to Sedgwick County, Kansas with his widowed mother and several of his siblings near the turn of the century. In about 1902, he established the George Wetterhold Mattress Factory, located at the corner of Kellogg and Tremont streets in Wichita, Kansas. By 1913, Wetterhold's mattress factory, called the George Wetterhold Spring & Mattress Factory, was located at 719-733 South St. Francis Street in Wichita. The factory remained in operation into the 1920s.
