Scope and Contents
This letter from Herman G. Tangner, a Carthage, Missouri livery proprietor, is written in July 1900 to his wife Jeanette at Denver, Colorado, where she was staying while enroute further west with their four young children. Tangner's one-page undated letter is written on his company's letterhead and is written in two hands--the first portion apparently dictated by Tangner, the second apparently written by Tangner himself. He comments on Carthage events and weather as well as his own activities. Tangner's embossed business envelope which accompanies the letter bears a postmark of July 10, 1900 and a Denver postmark of July 12. At RH MS-P P610 is a photo of the Southern Livery, Sale, Feed and Boarding Stable.
