Scope and Contents
This 10-page publication of the Lawrence Preservation Alliance's Hobbs Park Memorial Fund was issued to enlist support for its proposed preservation and relocation of Lawrence's historic Murphy-Bromelsick house to the city's Hobbs Park, near the homesite of early Lawrence editor and publisher John Speer. The Murphy-Bromelsick House was originally located at 909 Pennsylvania and was moved to 10th and Delaware streets and dedicated in 2001.
The publication includes reprinted biographical sketches of John Speer from publications of the Kansas State Historical Society and The Kansas Tribune.
