Scope and Contents

The various reports, which often have brief, handwritten letters of transmittal certifying that they are accurate, include lists of people summoned by the sheriff for jury duty, and a summary of the total-expenditures in the investigation, apprehension, detection and prosecution of felons and petty criminals. In most instances, specific cases are identified with the attendant expenses in prosecution. Cases mostly include theft, murder, and involving the search for whiskey. Reports appear to have been submitted to an auditor for inspection.
