History of the Lawrence Music Club
The Lawrence Music Club of Lawrence, Kansas was organized in 1892, 6 years before a national federation was formed. The club joined the National Federation of Music Clubs in 1910 and is also a member of the Kansas Federation of Music Clubs, which was created in 1919.
The mission for the Lawrence Music Club is to facilitate music clubs and other musical organizations and individuals directly or indirectly associated with musical activity working together, in order to develop and maintain high musical standards in the community. The club is also interested in aiding and encouraging musical education, promoting American music and American artists, and cooperating with the National Federation of Music Clubs with its plans for the advancement of music.
