Overview
Frank Gerhardt Henry Meckfessel (1879-1968) was a general practitioner physician who began his career in Claflin (Barton County), Kansas. This collection consists of photocopy and photographic reproductions of papers and photographs from the Meckfessel-Schroeder family.

Biography of Frank Gerhardt Henry Meckfessel (1879-1968)
Frank G.H. Meckfessel was born in St. Louis, Missouri to Sitonia K. Staude Bolinger and Frank Meckfessel. He graduated from the Eclectic Medicine School in 1903 at Kansas City, Missouri and served with the Missouri National Guard.
In 1907 Dr. Frank G.H. Meckfessel married Augusta Schroeder in Albert, Barton County, Kansas. Together they had three children: Orvis (1915-1917), Galen (1916-2002) and LaVerne [Slentz] (1918-1988). They settled in Lewis, Kansas in 1920 where, in addition to practicing medicine, Meckfessel was a member of the Kansas Medical Society, the Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite and Shrine, the OES, and the White Shrine. He served at one time as the Edwards County Health Officer and the Edwards County Physician Welfare Director.
