Elston Joseph "E.J." Melton was a journalist and author, as well as former president of the Missouri Press Association, Missouri Writers' Guild, Central Missouri Press Association, and Missouri State Board of Education. This collection consists of several drafts of his book "Quick Darkness," as well as numerous photos of and relating to steamboats.
