Biography of Woods Family

On 24 December 1877, Benjamin Franklin Woods (b. 31 March 1849 in Smithville, Missouri) and Sallie James (b. 13 February 1868 in Glasco, Missouri) married. The couple had two children, Mary Alice (b. 2 March 1878) and William Joseph (b. 30 March 1880). By 1884 the family had moved to Leavenworth, Kansas and, in 1892, the Woods bought land in Tonganoxie, Kansas. There, William worked as an engineer at the Franklin Ice Cream plant.

William Woods married Martha Rose Davis (b. 5 July 1883, Leavenworth, Kan.) on 16 January 1902. The couple had four children. May Marie Woods, born 6 November 1903, died in 1916 at the age of 13. William Zelmarian, born 18 April 1907, became a Kansas City, Kansas lawyer. On 17 May 1912, Hazel Alice arrived. In 1946 Hazel married Henry Lee Davis at Indianapolis, Indiana and, subsequently, had two children, Lyle and Rosemary. Geraldine Thelma Woods, born 13 January 1916, married G. C. Hall.

Ben Woods died 17 September 1928 and Sallie died 17 May 1933. William Joseph Woods passed away 2 July 1948 followed by his wife, Martha, on 24 April 1968.
