Biography of Samuel Newitt Wood
Wood was a member of the Kansas Territorial Legislature of 1860 and 1861, was a member of the Kansas State Senate in 1861 and 1867, and was a member of the Kansas House of Representatives in 1864, 1866, 1876 and 1877. He was killed June 23, 1891, by Jim Brennan. Items 4-7 below refer to his murder. (Biographical information from Kansas Historical Collections, c7:526-7.)
