History of the Kansas Conference on Social Welfare
A statewide organization of people involved in the field of human services, the Kansas Conference on Social Welfare (KCSW) was first established in 1900 to mobilize resources in Kansas to meet the needs of people. Existing under names such as the Kansas Association of Charities and Corrections and the Kansas Conference of Social Work, in 1960 it became the KCSW. Its membership has included lawyers, professors, physicians and social workers, religious figures, and others; and the Conference has worked with numerous other organizations and institutions interested in advocating for individuals with needs and working on social and human development concerns.
