This collection consists of professional correspondence; findings and publishings from H.H. Lane's research into vertebrate paleontology, including manuscripts from one of his books; scans and photos of exhibits; material related to Lane's work as Head of the Zoology Department at the University of Kansas and at other universities; and some personal material.

Biography of Henry Higgins Lane
H. H. Lane recieved his undergraduate degrees in German and Latin from DePauw University in Indiana and Princeton University in New Jersey. He recieved his Masters at Indiana University with a major in Zoology, focusing on prehistoric mammals and vertabrate paleontology.
Lane thereafter became a professor, teaching at many colleges, including the University of Chicago and Hiram College. He became the head of a newly established Department of Zoology at Oklahoma University, later becoming the head of the Department of Zoology at the University of Kansas where he also curated for and became the director of the Museum of Natural History. He retired in 1944 and passed away in 1965.
