Scope and Contents
The collection contains photocopies of both the original survey report and the Kansas Historic Resources Inventory forms for neighborhood residences. Additional materials, processed in 2017, document the Oread Neighborhood's broad range of activities and interests, including houses in disrepair, poor condition of sidewalks and curbs, nuisance houses, neighborhood bars, preservation of historic homes, clean up of trash-strewn alleys, and the expansion of University of Kansas housing onto the 1300 block of Ohio Street.
An incomplete run of newsletters from 1988-2003, duplicative of some of those available at RH Ser G46, has also been included, along with various records associated with the production of those newsletters. Chief among those associated papers are photographs and negatives, located at RH MS-P 1436, mostly used in the production of the newsletters and in documenting conditions for action by the City Commission and other governmental bodies.
Oversize materials have been physically separated and are housed at RH MS Q432 and RH MS R426. Audio visual items, mostly consisting of recordings of meetings, are located at KC AV 17.
