Jerome Pitney (1840-1902) was a farmer and rancher in La Clede, Kansas. Born in Saratoga, New York, Pitney came to Kansas in 1880 and developed an exceptionally large ranch. This collection includes five letters written by Pitney, including four to his brother Charles, concerning his life in Kansas.

Jerome Pitney (1840-1902) was a farmer and rancher in La Clede, Kansas. Born in Saratoga, New York, Pitney came to Kansas in 1880 and developed an exceptionally large ranch. Pitney was married to Elizabeth Owen in 1866, and had two children, Walter and Arthur.
