Overview
Handel T. Martin worked in the Paleontology Division of the Museum of Natural History at the University of Kansas from 1899-1924. This collection consists of notes about a trip to Patagonia and some Pueblo ruins in Scott County, Kansas.

Biography of Handel T. Martin
Handel T. Martin, born in 1862, came to the United States from England and settled in Kansas in 1886. Although never formally trained in paleontology, he began collecting fossils for Yale University and then the American Museum of Natural History before joining the staff at the University of Kansas' Museum of Natural History in Lawrence, Kansas in 1896 as chief assistant and preparator for Samuel Williston.
Martin held a variety of occupations with the Natural History Museum including serving as field and laboratory worker, instructor, and assistant curator of paleontology. He was a significant fossil collector and trained numerous students in the field.
Martin was married to Jennie M. Martin, with whom he had two children, a son and daughter. Martin died in January 1931.
