Biographical / Historical
The Kansas Pharmaceutical Association was established in 1880, with its first meeting held that June. The organization was formed to unite pharmacists of Kansas (especially during the annual convention), promote positive working relationships among members, encourage scientific research, develop talent in the area of pharmaceuticals, and elevate standards of professionalism. The organization is still in existence as one of the oldest statewide profession associations of pharmacists in the country. The Kansas Pharmaceutical Association has since become the Kansas Pharmacists Association, which still functions to bring pharmacists together and help bring legislative and regulatory issues before the Kansas government. The organization has held close ties to the University of Kansas and Kansas State University since its inception.
