History of the Kansas Natural Resource Council
The Kansas Natural Resource Council (KNRC) was founded in 1981 and continues to advocate for the protection of Kansas water, including through activities that educate Kansans about their state's natural resources and how to conserve those resources for future generations; supporting sustainable family farming practices; ensuring a competetitve energy market where renewable resources can flourish; and promoting responsible solid waste management. The Council, amongst other activities, conducts research on natural resource issues, advocates for responsible natural resource legislation, monitors state agency actions and intervenes in state agency proceedings to ensure the enforcement of environmental laws, hosts environmental conferences and workshops, and creates opportunities for citizen participation in resource policy-making.
