Overview

The Kansas Society of Radiologic Technologists (KSRT) was founded as the Kansas Society of X-Ray Technicians in 1936. Known as the KSRT since 1964, the Society works to advance the science of radiologic technology, to develop standards of education and training, to promote high quality patient care, and to improve the welfare and socioeconomics of radiologic technology. This collection includes administrative records, officers' correspondence, financial records, annual reports, student essay contest entries, membership applications, lists, and publications and materials related to the creation of the society's publication, The Rotating Anode.

History of the Kansas Society of Radiologic Technologists

The Kansas Society of X-Ray Technicians was formed and accepted as an affiliate of the American Society of X-Ray Technicians in November of 1936. The official publication, The Rotating Anode, was begun in 1938. In 1964, the society changed its name to the Kansas Society of Radiologic Technologists to comply with similar changes made by the parent society.

The purpose of this society is to advance the science of radiologic technology. It functions to provide high standards of education and training, to stimulate and encourage research, to expand educational opportunities and to establish and enunciate policies concerning the professional status, legislative activity, and welfare of its members.

Scope and Contents

The collection of the Kansas Society of Radiologic Technologists (KSRT) consists of documents related to the administration of the organization, including board member information, committee reports, organizational periodicals, annual reports, financial records, and correspondence. It also includes information regarding the planning and coordination of the annual meetings of the KSRT and ASRT (American Society of Radiologic Technologists), as well as fragmented information from other state societies in the region. Personal materials of past KSRT presidents are incorporated. The collection additionally includes oversize documents as well as a computer reel and VHS tape; the oversize material and video tape have been physically separated and are described at the end of this finding aid.
