This collection includes political and financial correspondence related to the operation and ownership of the Garden City Telegram newspaper of Garden City, Kansas, held by Gervais Reed with Robert B. and L.F. Reed. The collection also contains photographs and newspaper pages from the 1930s through the 1990s.

Biography of Gervais Fais Reed
Gervais Fais Reed was born in 1897 to Minnie Fais and Ira E. Reed of Colorado. He bought the Garden City Telegram in 1932 with Robert B. Reed and L.F. Reed of Eureka, Kansas. Reed was the business manager and publisher for the newspaper. The Hutchinson News Herald named him Man of the Year in 1950. Following the sale of the Telegram in 1954 he took an active role in city government, serving terms on the City Commission and as mayor.
