Biography of Josephine C. Vandiver
Josephine Campbell Vandiver was a school counselor at several Kansas City, Kansas schools, including Northeast Junior High, Northeastern High School, and Schlagle. While at Northeast Junior High, Vandiver began a program for pregnant junior high girls; it is thought that this program influenced the Kansas City, Kansas TAMS (Teen Age Mothers School) program.
In 1969, Vandiver became chair of the Kansas Personnel and Guidence Association (KPGA) Commission on Human Rights. During the late 1970s, she chaired the Form Unification Committee, which sought "to review and update forms commonly used by counselors in Kansas City, Kansas." Vandiver was recognized for her years of dedication by being named Kansas' 1982 Counselor of the Year.
In the 1990s, Vandiver married William H. Boone, former Kansas City, Kan. teacher, principal, and school board member. William Boone died in 1995.
