Overview
These historical records of the Zion Lutheran Church of rural Clyde, Kansas date from 1874, when the church was formally organized at Brantford, Kansas by its community of Swedish immigrants. Records include the church's 1874 constitution and minutes of meetings through 1947. Also included is the church's earliest register of members, identifying dates of birth, baptism, confirmation, immigration, marriage, and deaths through 1965. The records are in Swedish through 1924, and are afterward in English.

History of Zion Lutheran Church (Clyde, Kan.)
The Zion Lutheran Church of rural Clyde, Kansas was first organized in the early 1870s as the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church of Washington County's nearby Brantford community. The church's earliest members and organizers were Swedish immigrant homesteaders who first settled at Brantford in 1868, developed a church constitution in 1874, and later constructed a church building. In 1981, the church celebrated its 100th anniversary as the Zion Lutheran Church of Clyde (Brantford). A commemorative history of the church appeared that year in the October issue of Kanhistique.
