Personal papers of John H. Nelson
Overview
Nelson taught English at the University of Kansas from 1925-1967. This collection consists of correspondence when Nelson retired as Dean of the Graduate School in 1963 and when he retired from the KU faculty in 1967, as well as when he received his Distinguished Service Award in 1972. It also contains awards, citations, and news clippings.

Biography of John H. Nelson (1897-1981)
John H. Nelson received his A.B. from Wofford College in 1919 and his Ph.D. in 1923 from Cornell University. He joined the faculty in the Department of English at the University of Kansas in 1925. He reached full Professor status in 1930 and served as Dean of the Graduate School from 1946-1963. He retired in 1967 and died in 1981.
