James A. McHenry, Jr. was born February 29, 1944 in Topeka, Kansas to James A. McHenry, Sr. and Elizabeth (Schenck) McHenry. The parents of Elizabeth Schenck McHenry were Leland Hebbard Schenck and Lena Baxter Schenck, who married in 1919 at Topeka. Leland Schenck's father was George H. Schenck.
