Overview
The collection consists of a song book compiled by George Heller from one of his music education and therapy classes in 1980, and also a book of instruction for guitar written by Heller from one of his classes in 2000; both volumes have accompanying CDs.

Biographical / Historical
George N. Heller was born in Ypsilanti, Michigan in 1941 and received a bachelor's, master's, and PhD degree in music education from the University of Michigan. Upon completing his PhD in 1973, Heller joined the faculty of the University of Kansas. While in Kansas, Heller wrote over a hundred articles and books about a breadth of music methods and the history of music education. George Heller founded The Bulletin of Historical Research in Music Education in 1980 and also served on the editorial boards of several other music journals. Throughout his career, Heller was a pianist, organist, tuba soloist, vocalist, choir directior, band director, and general music teacher. He was best known for his research and contributions to the study of the history of music education. Heller retired from KU in 2002 and passed away in 2004.
