This collection tells of their departure and subsequent relocations to Anaheim; Boyero, Lincoln County, Colorado; and eventually Ottawa, Kansas and is comprised mostly of the diaries of matriarch Mabel Lucy Kelsey Owen, as well as letters, interviews, and interjections from Paul C. Biography of the Owen family
This collection is centered on the family of Clive H. Owen (born in 1876 to Theodore and Emma Owen) and Mabel Lucy Kelsey Owen (born in 1877 to Chauncey and Isabella Kelsey) and their four children: Lorene, May 21, 1900; Theodore "Ted," August 25, 1902; Paul, October 8, 1906; and Isabella "Clare," September 15, 1908.
Mabel Lucy Kelsey Owen was the oldest of four children, followed by Maud, Carleton, and William or "Willie." Maud married Charles Hallowell and had a daughter, Dorothy. Carleton married a woman also by the name of Mabel and had five children: Chauncey, Clive, Genevieve, Verna, and Ruth. William "Willie" married Juliana "Julia" Shaske and had nine children. After Mabel's mother died, father Chauncey remarried to Adella "Della" Williams and had a son named Almer, half-brother to Mabel, Maud, Carleton, and Willie.
Clive Harold Owen was the oldest of ten, followed by Ernest, Claire, Paul, Lorene, William, Henry "Fletcher," Charles, Floyd, and Fred. "Fletcher" was married to a woman by the name of Verlie Van Dorn. Floyd was married to and then divorced from Elizabeth "Bessie" Gray; they had a son, Paul.
Lorene, Clive and Mabel's eldest, married John J. Pinney and had five children: John Jr. or "Jack" or "Jackie," Carol, Robert, Thomas, and Elizabeth. John Jr. married a woman named Beverly and had three children: Paul, David, and Jay. Carol married Bill Crabb and had four children: Richard "Dick," James "Jim," Thomas "Tom," and Jennifer Lynn, who married Chris Reynolds.
Theodore "Ted," second oldest of Clive and Mabel, married Alta Ethel Harness (whose sister would eventually marry Paul). Together they had Donald Eugene and Althea "Polly," who eventually married Thomas C. Lovitt.
Paul C. Owen, third child to Mabel and Clive and editor of this collection, married Goldie Marie Harness (younger sister of Alta Harness) and had three children: Bob, Ronnie, and an unnamed third.
